PEORIA METRO — Area unemployment last month slightly up (Peoria Journal-Star)

Unemployment in the metro Peoria area in December was 8.1 percent, from 7.9 percent from the previous month but down from the 8.7 percent posted in December 2010, according to statistics released today by the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

The jobless rate was also slightly higher in Peoria County in December: 8.6 percent compared to 8.5 percent the previous month but lower than the 9.2 percent unemployment rate recorded in December 2010.
