Codification Services

I have been been working with and organizing ordinances for almost a decade. I noticed how complicated and expensive the process can be for municipalities, especially the smaller communities, and I couldn't help but wonder why. While most municipalities already have a municipal attorney, either corporation counsel or on retainer, the major codification services supply a team of lawyers to review ordinances prior to or during the codification process. To me, this doesn't make sense since an ordinance's legality is typically determined before its enactment. In addition, it is not up to a codification service to determine the legality of an ordinance. The job of a codification service is to simply codify what it has been given.

Therefore, I decided that I would apply my skills and experiences to offer an easier and less expensive way to codify ordinances. There are many different ways to accomplish this. However, with today's technology, the easiest and least expensive way for the municipality, and the public at large, is to organize them (which is the essence of the codification process) and make them available online for easy download. With this approach, city officials and staff, and your constituents, will have easy access to the laws of the community.

Working with your municipal attorney, whom I most likely already have a working relationship with, I will appropriately organize your municipal ordinances making them your city/village/town code, put them in an easy to download format while protecting their integrity, and publish them online upon approval by your city council or village board.
